Description	Whitefriars glass working 'Jacks'. Shaped like large iron tweezers.
Provenance	Owned by Whitefriars glassblower Ronnie Wilkinson. Wilkinson worked at Whitefriars from 1940-1980.
Comments	Jacks consist of two metal blades joined by a spring-like handle. The glassworker controls the distance between the blades to change the shape of the glass as it is rotating. Depending on the angle of the blades, jacks can be used to shape the vessel as it is being inflated, to create a constriction to help separate the glass from the blowpipe, or to flare the opening of a vessel.
