DescriptionSherd of a samien ware bowl, Roman period. Outside of vessel covered in design that appears to show mythical 'merman' type creature, standing man, and dogs. Bordered with a circular design. Inside of sherd has historic marking in ink which reads 'Sull '53 C. 6.' (Sull standing for Sullionacis).
ProvenanceProduced in Gaul.
