| AdminHistory | The Harrow and Wealdstone rail crash occured during the morning commute on October 8th, 1952. Three trains collided in the station, killing 112 people, and injuring nearly 350 others. To date, it is one of the deadliest rail crashes in the United Kingdom. Members of the United States Air Force, stationed at the RAF base in Ruislip, attended alongside emergency services to help search for survivors and tend to the wounded. During the long rescue process, many members of the press attended, capturing the aftermath of the disaster. It took four days to clear the debris and restart all services. An inqury highlighted the flaws in rail safety, and accelerated policies which are still in place today.
