DescriptionThe British War Medal. For officers and men of the British and Imperial forces for service in the First World War. Silver. Obverse: George V bust encircled by text: "GEORGIVS V BRITT. OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:". Reverse: horse and rider flanked by "1914" and "1918". Orange and blue silk grosgrain ribbon on bar attachment.
CommentsBy convention, the 1914-1915 Star, the British War Medal, and the Victory Medal were all worn together and in the same order from left to right. They were affectionately dubbed 'Pip, Squeak, and Wilfred'.
