Autographic version of the Vest Pocket Kodak camera. Black body of the compact strut folding type. Plate around lens: "MADE BY EASTMAN KODAK Co. ROCHESTER, N. Y. U.S.A." along with information about lens. On reverse, plate around eyepiece: "VEST POCKET / AUTOGRAPHIC KODAK" and "U. S. PATENTS - MAR.4.1902; MAY 6.1913" With brown leather canvas case.
Comments
The vest Pocket Autographic was introduced in 1915 (White 1981, 77). Serial numbers from about 200,000. A best seller in WWI, when it was advertised as 'The Soldier's Camera'. Variations - February 1915: stop stud for vertical support eliminated, from serial number 231,401; 1920: 'Japan Crystal' crackle enamel finish introduced.
