Local relic of 1914-1918 war.
This photo may interest your readers of an interesting relic of the 1914-1918 war, now to be seen on the golf course on PINNER HILL.
It is a ship's bell and is now used as a "green" warning bell.
However, the interesting point is that the bell originally belonged to the S.S. Perim, a ship built in Germany in 1916 and ceded to Great Britain after the 1914-18 war under the Treaty of Versailles. The ship then joined the P. & O. service for a number of years and traded under the White Ensign between England and Australia.
When it was finally broken up a few years ago, its bell was acquired by the Pinner Hill golfers for the novel purpose stated above.
