Description
"Make Do and Mend" dressing gown remade from genuine woolen Victorian material by dressmaker during rationing. Full sized, lined beige material, with one pocket. Green buttons (non-Victorian) fasten garment from neck to hip/ thigh. Formerly a cloak.
Comments
The government’s ‘Make Do and Mend’ scheme encouraged people to repair or recycle their clothing. Garments were created using non-rationed blackout material or highly prized parachute silk.
