Black and white photographic print showing the Waxwell, Waxwell Lane, Pinner, with gates and path/road in the background. Note on back in pen include "Druett "Pinner through the ages" (1937) opp. p. 48" and notes about photograph quality in blue coloured pencil. "GAZETTE / PHOTOGRAPH" stamp on back.
Comments
From the Harrow Heritage Trust plaque later installed: "Name was first recorded in 1274 as "Wakeswell". Thought to mean Waecce's Spring. Until the mid-19th Century the well was the most important source of water in Pinner Village and reputed to have healing properties."
