DescriptionBlack and white photographic print showing the War Memorial, town tree, and Cornerways, High Street, Pinner. View up toward church, visible on left, with large tree growing behind the War Memorial in centre. Women sit on a bench, talking, on right. Taken in portrait orientation. Notes in pen and pencil on reverse.
CommentsAppears in "Panorama of Pinner Village" (1947), page 21. Quoted on back: "Photograph taken in 1944 of the dead tree successor to the old Town Tree. It grew too large and obscured the clock on Pinner Church. To perpetuate the tree at the top of the High Street, a new one, a species of maple, was provided by the Pinner Association in the Autumn of 1946."
